This transaction follows the trade of Fox to Spurs and Lavine joining Kings as his replacement. The picks sent to Wizards, including Sissoko and Denver's second-round pick, were acquired in that three-team deal. More importantly, trading Huerter to Bulls allowed Kings to absorb Valanciunas’ salary without worrying about luxury tax issues.

The decision not to utilize cap space flexibility for Tre Jones' contract (who was sent to Bulls in the Fox trade) indicates that Sacramento values strengthening its frontcourt over finding a traditional point guard replacement for Fox. With Lavine, Monk, DeRozan and rookie Devin Carter on board, they have no shortage of ball handlers but lack size off the bench.

The 2.11m tall and 120kg heavy Valanciunas certainly brings physicality into play. Previously used primarily as Sabonis' backup was Trey Lyles at 2.06m who is more suited as a power forward than center position.
Valanciunas can better handle bigger opponents while allowing interim head coach Doug Christie greater freedom with lineup changes by giving Lyles more time at his natural position.

A common perception may label Valanciunas mainly as a low-post scorer or offensive rebounder; however he has also excelled when rolling after screens based on tracking data from Second Spectrum which shows only six centers had performed more ball-screen actions than him over past six seasons—Sabonis being one among them.

I wonder if Coach Christy might consider playing both Sabonis & Valenciunus together:

• Both players previously played alongside each other during their tenure with Lithuania National team notably last appearing together during Eurobasket Championship qualifiers where collectively averaging impressive stats such combined:28 points & nearly18 rebounds per game throughout round-of-sixteen matches!

• A significant advantage comes from both having perimeter shooting abilities making this pairing offensively feasible though it could necessitate adjustments defensively opting towards zone defense instead requiring Saboni’s chasing down strong forwards outside arc responsibilities

Kings are positioned well financially heading into next season potentially choosing either retaining free-agent-to-be Lyles or fully utilizing mid-level exception enhancing roster depth come offseason! By season ending summer '26-'27 they'll likely hold option releasing Valačiūnas should necessity arise given non-guaranteed $10 million due within final year .

Taking full advantage opportunity presented itself -signing favorable terms before flipping onto competitive squad providing number two overall draft choice Sal an experienced veteran presence spanning duration roughly three-and-a-half months ahead playoffs commencing !!
